[MLB-WIRELESS] Solar powered Wireless repeater?

Hi,
can anyone direct me towards a low-cost solution to building a solar-powered
wirelss repeater to overcome the obstruction of a ridge between one WLAN
location and another? I will have access to a point on top of the ridge
which has LOS to both ends I wish to connect.
I'm thinking: Access point with two cards and two antennas, running of
batteries....
old laptop with two cards and two antennas (LCD shut and off of course,
extra external battery to last all night... enough RAM to not have a
harddisk at all etc)

Any ideas? What am I missing? Is a PC needed at all? Are pringles cantennas
suitable for mounting relatively close to each other albeit facing opposite
directions?

Suggestions? Links?

Cheers,
Joe
