But it may be something that happened in the past and/or out of range of
their sniffer, so they may need your logs to get started.

That's a good argument.  I'm used to mandatory unsecured networks (can
anyone say "packet radio"?).

Agreed.  If the the Feds came to me, I'd be willing to cooperate, but until
then, my logs are mine...

IP address should also give a clue as to where in the network to start
looking...

No argument there, but we may be called on to assist with other
investigations.  In reality the probability of this happening is almost
zero, but it is possible and we need to be prepared.
