Hello James,

Couple of things to note...

JH> <OPINION>
JH> I think you're really going to struggle to get regions joining with this
JH> type of model. The networks that have been set up with a free (as in
JH> beer and speech) philosophy (most (all?) of em...) aren't going to like
JH> being "ruled" by a national office.

Not so, the "ruling" is in the case there is disputes that can't be
handled on a local level... All regions will be responsible for their
own budgets, however there is accountability, to both their local
members and the national body to ensure people aren't doing stupid
things... ie $5000 on an AP without justification for it...

JH> We had enough problems in Melbourne deciding whether we need a
JH> committee. In fact, we still haven't decided. We elected a temporary
JH> president, and given a WG a mandate to come up with some sort of
JH> structure.

Where as we have already defined the structure... not everyone will
agree with it, not everyone will disagree with it, we about about
force feeding anything to anyone, if people agree and think it's a
good idea then so be it...

JH> You may have more luck inviting the various groups to TOGETHER form a
JH> body to support and encourage community wireless groups in .au, and to
JH> represent those groups on National Issues (ie. The current Federal
JH> inquiry).

More to it, to stick gear on public locations you need public
liability insurance, our thoughts were, and still are, we all have to
pay it, why not get a cheaper rate in bulk... same with equipment and
so on, if you want to support something, and we have enough numbers we
can buy gear at much better rates... As seen in previous bulk deals...

JH> At the moment, it is just coming across as Sydney trying to bully
JH> everyone else to join what is currently a organisation totally run by
JH> Sydney people. (Affectionately referred to as the "Join us or be
JH> crushed", or "American" method)

We're not forcing anyone to do anything, if an area is setup and
working then so be it we don't plan to do anything there... This isn't
a do or die situation as you are portraying it...
