Hi,

Since most of us are out to help each other so we can all get the most
out of community wireless networks, the Australian Wireless Association
is seeking people willing to help make it a little easier for those that
are a little less technical.

The proposal is that a Linux or *BSD based small distro or boot CD be
made to act as a wireless client.

The idea is that the CD will have everything you need to connect to a
community wireless network, including the latest stable wireless
drivers, typical network card drivers, basic firewalling and routing,
and the like.

If it boots off CD, it could have a simple fill in the blanks section
for adding IP addresses, perhaps displaying MAC addresses and
recommending that they be provided to the administrator of the local
access point, and any other basic info that needs to be added. This
would also include suitable sanity checking, to ensure the correct
information is added.

Does this sound like a challenge you'd be interested in? If so please
contact us at helpus at australianwireless.org so we can put a team
together to make it easier to get people connected.

Regards

Jamie
