I thought the following may be of interest to most users on both lists, I received this info in a email earlier today and will post more details when available :-

A Wireless CPE supplier is about to release this new a AP and CPE software product that I think is going to impress most people that try it :) First and for most THIS IS NOT LINUX!!!! :) they want to make sure everyone know this right from the start! The NOS was developed from the ground up with one thing in mind, Networking! The Network Operating System (or NOS) turns a common PC hardware based devices with at least two supported network interfaces into fully manageable multiport network device. Part of the package is a Windows based NMS - management software for remote on-line monitoring and management. The system is one of the first all-in one multipurpose network administering and management suite:
a.. Top speed and efficiency (NOS can run on a 386!!! Full feature NOS is 801k)
b.. Continuous network monitoring with selectable alarm levels
c.. Graphical network traffic trend analysis down to node level
  d.. Uninterrupted network history logging
  e.. Wide scale security filtering
  f.. User management
g.. Support for variety of wireless and wired Interfaces

  NOS (Network Operating System)
    a.. Ad-hoc, Point-to-Point and Point-to-Multipoint, per interface
b.. Infrastructure mode - client, per interface
c.. Infrastructure mode - Access Point, per interface
    d.. Bridging:
      a.. transparent bridging
b.. Level 2, store and forward
c.. up to 2048 MAC addresses, stored in bridge table
      d.. Storm Broadcast Protection
e.. Bridge Group Manager - up to 7 logical groups per port (VLAN)
f.. Packet filtering on MAC level
    e.. Routing:
a.. Level 3, static routing tables
b.. up to 64 routing records
c.. Available for physical and logical interfaces
d.. Packet filtering on IP level
f.. Bandwidth Management /IP/Port/MAC access authorization (Firewall):
      a.. 128 Traffic shaping queues
b.. predefined queue speed limit (from 32 Kbps up to 4096 Kbps)
c.. custom definable queue speed limit
        a.. queue assignment
b.. physical port (up to 24 ports in one device)
c.. IP address (up to 128 user definable records of IP hosts and/or network addresses)
d.. MAC address (up to 2048 MAC addresses)
      d.. Status
a.. Active - running based on the settings
b.. Inactive - keeps settings - queue in BYPASS mode
c.. Discard - settings in Active mode - data will be blocked (discarded) for user
e.. Quality of Service (on the physical port level)
f.. Three (3) data flow priority queues
g.. Transmitted packets data prioritization (512 KB buffer, 256 packets entries per queue)
    g.. Device Time Synchronization:
      a.. Automatic Synchronization
      b.. Manual
h.. HW Support combination of (for up to 6 interfaces per device):
    a.. Multiple wireless interfaces:
      a.. Demarc 100mW (Prism 2 compatible)
      b.. Orinoco
    b.. Multiple Ethernet interfaces:
      a.. 3C509: 3COM
      b.. SMC: SMC8x16
      c.. NE2000 (RTL8139)
    c.. Multiple Synchronous interface:
      a.. X.21; V.35 (MOXA)
    d.. Multiple Asynchronous interface:
      a.. UART 16450, 16550 (Com 1 and 2)
NMS (Network Management System)Software application (Windows 32-bit) providing ability to manage the NOS based devices remotely over the TCP/IP network. Supports setup and monitoring of the devices with the ability to display information for data flow, status of the devices, event logging, and more. Setup allows user to set all important hardware and software parameters of the device. Shortly We will have a fully functional demo downloadable and documentation from our website in the few days. We will be sending out another email with the link info when the web pages are setup for the public.
