To do a whole PC, you would need at least 6 cores.

There are +12, +5, 0, -5, -12, as well as a "power good" in an old AT style
power supply.  In addition, ATX supplies may have extra lines.

Also, note that modern motherboards can draw in excess of 10 amps at 5V.
This means you _will_ have huge problems with voltage drop in your DC supply
lead.  If you wanted to put a PC up a pole, you might be better off running
240V (suitably waterprofed) directly up.  This is best done conduited by an
electrician (friends with any? :)).

A laptop is a different proposition, since these typically have an internal
regulator, and any old DC supply around 19V will do the trick.

In short, I don't recomend doing this... :)
