Agreed. Most wardrivers I know just make a log and leave it at that.
That's all I've ever done as well. For me, it has been an exercise in
understanding wireless security - how far one can detect a WLAN with even
simple gear (like a laptop with nothing other than a standard card, no
antenna), then looking at countermeasures, from AP relocation to WEP and IP
level encryption, and authentication schemes.
