Hi

I originally bought two 2mb card (orinocco) and then another. I didn't 
bother with a access point and used a spare machine running netbsd to 
become my access point gateway. These cards were about $140 each last 
year. The antenna cost me another $500 (omni directional), plus a few 
extra dollars for the lmr 400 cable. And the other cost was the two 
pcmcia cards (one pcmcia, one isa) about $140 each again.

I recently upgraded to 11mb oronocco wireless silver for $89 each at the 
box hill swap meet before christmas.

Currently for about $1000 will get you a two cards of some variety and a 
antenna plus the related accessories.
