Try Linux Router Project at http://c0wz.steinkuehler.net/  and mix it with 
CIPE.  CIPE will encrypt your traffic between you and your buddy with not 
much fuss.  I made a cipe.lrp package last year which works just 
fine.  It's a lot simpler than IPSEC and perfect for P2P.
