I just saw a segmenton the ABCs "the 7:30 report" on wireless internet,
and was absolutely appauled (sp?).

All these people (including the reporter) advocating the ILLEGAL use of
wireless on the grounds it's in a "free spectrum for garage door openers
etc".

Further into the article, they did say it was illegal, and interviewed the
dishonerouble minister for major-telecommunications-fsck-ups who seemed to
be saying that yeah, sure, this is a good idea and it should be
encouraged. I got the *impression* he was trying to imply that there were,
or should be, no regulatory impedement to the use of the spectrum in this
regard. Did I read it wrong?

If the minister really WANTS "innovation" in this area, WTF does he
continue to ensure it is ILLEGAL to use it in that manner without a
carrier license?

Is it just incompetance? Or is he really still having his strings pulled
by the $$$ end of town who don't want wireless used like this?
