[MLB-WIRELESS] The Hombrew Challenge Notebooks with broken screens wanted

Well folks. In the light of community spirit I thought it was time I put
forward an idea I have been pondering about for a while now.

One dilemma that we have it that of the apparent shortage of cable and
connectors (shoot me If I'm wrong). The other issue is that using long runs
is not too cool, not to mention a bit pricey.

My idea was to make a homebrew AP that you can sit nice and close to the
antenna. Regardless of how high it was (100m would still keep things in
spec. from a UTP perspective) That is why I was asking about the Compaq
contura aero notebook yesterday.

I have now given up on the idea of the contura, but have gone a different
way. My plan is to gut a notebook with a broken screen and use the parts to
build it and possibly use the kernel from the WRP to get it going.

Any input into the idea would be excellent as I think that this would be a
great way to build some AP's real cheap.

Comments and suggestions taken with pleasure.

Currently I need to look at enclosures so any ideas would be good.
I have contacted a lot of resellers of notebooks, but only one was receptive
to my idea. Thanks Greg. Most others where keen to make a buck from even
their oldest piece of junk.

Please look around your workplaces and let me know if you have anything that
might suffice. Check out my Wiki page for minimum specs.
