RE: [MLB-WIRELESS] IP address range for Geelong?Hi James, and group - I did not see this go through so surprised at your reply.

The hall is the one in James St. beside the Greeek Orthodox Church with the four spire tower where OneTel wanted to put an antenna until some local bigmouth ;-) went to the meetings and told everyone that a thirty watt light bulb out put (as they put it - and no big deal ) was really 560 W EIRP from the antenna.

It was probably a fearful majority that got it rejected but then Onetel managed to put it on a factory on High st. a hundred meteres away!! And lower as well so that was a hollow victory! So... probably not much chance of me getting my Wireless Server up the tower and being able to pay what they lost out from OneTel!;-)

But I may try anyway.

Is any one interested in the venue at probably a $2 or $3 each donation to cover $50 per meeting?
Has tables and chairs and carparking, (Peacock Pub 200 mtrs away) electricity and HEIGHT ;-)
I would not be surprised if they would let us put up an antenna on the roof also.

  <goes back about 60 posts>

  Hey!

  I live about 2 minutes from the top of Ruckers Hill....if this venue is goes ahead, expect to see me there!

  What was the venue exactly Greg?? (Cos I know te Catholic Parish up there pretty well....)

  As an aside - that church steple would be a great spot to link the northern suburbs backbone nodes and any backbones set up in the eastern suburbs....

  my 2c (and dream!)

  James

    Told you I'm no MSCE;-)

    As an aside I have found a Hall for meetings if the attendees could come up with $50 per meeting..GASP! Hate to think what they would want to put an antenna on the church steeple!

    BUT it is on the big (Ruckers)hill in Northcote that can see all the eastern suburbs so you may be able to WLAN home.

      I'm no MSCE but could we consider the last three digits of the Nodes
      PostCode as the IP in there somewhere so as to easier recognise the general
      location?
