Hi all,

I've been lurking on this list for weeks now [being clueless about wireless 
internet, I figured it'd be a good idea :)] and I have a question:

Why don't we use IP6?

<joking...>

Seriously though, the suburb idea is a good one, but for the fact that 
there's too many suburbs. So - why not use council areas? They are well 
defined and there are only 78 suburbs in Victoria so there'll be no address-
space issue. I'm currently looking up numbers for the balance of Australia, 
but I'd be very suprised if any state/territory in Aus. had 255+ 
councils... except maybe Canberra :)

Also, if one were to go to a council and let them know we're trying to get 
wireless networking in *their* region they'd be far more likely to assist - 
and it'd offer much greater demarkation in terms of who to approach if we 
wanted assistance from Gov. [whether it be for access to buildings, some 
grant funding, etc]

And, yes, population figures are available. See attached .csv

Anyway, on this basis we could have 10.1 [vic].[council#].x
