yep.  it may be worth talking to them - let them know that you want to
use the data for a free community project and they may give you a good
deal (or perhaps even free)....or maybe not.  worth a try, anyway.




the idea of free (as in open source) GIS data is gaining momentum - not
enough to help us now, but in a few years, it should be readily
available.

i'm only beginning to research it now.
