[MLB-WIRELESS] Fw: WDDZ Seminar: Telstra Mobiles CDMA 1X serv ice LAUNCHED

Telstra are trying to say that this is '3g' mobile telephony. The reason they are doing this is to suggest that the Hutchison 3G
network (Orange) that will begin operations next year is no big deal.
The Hutchison network will be a true 3g network whereas the cdma1x offering from Telstra is just a higher throughput than GPRS.

As a side note Optus are currently running trials of low bandwidth video over GPRS which is their way of saying that 3g is not
needed. All of the carriers are shit scared because their current investments have not been paid for and yet they will need to
invest a shitload of money once the Hutchison network is in place and running (of course only if it attracts the customers and
associated value ad revenues).

Cheers,

Dean
