I saw this awhile back as well, and everyone I asked about it has told 
me it is not possible to turn a hermes card into an AP with a registry 
change. What may happen is the client manager reads it as an AP due to 
the reg change, but it's really still IBSS?

Rumor has it the embsd.org guys have a custom firmware that will turn a 
hermes into an AP, but I'm guessing they won't share it.
