11Mb/s = 11 megabits per second - that is the maximum speed of 802.11b.  All
line speeds are measure in bits per second.

You are talking about 1.2MB/s which is megaBYTES per second - line speeds
are NEVER measured in BYTES per second (comms people don't even talk about
bytes, they talk about octets).
