Karlnet do make the stock os for the units, but they also have a product called TURBOCELL, that totally changes the way the unit RG-1000 unit operates.

You have to pay for the software though , it is not cheap.

For example :-

access point base software is $600.00
satellite software is $350.00

access points can bridge between units and will go many deep ( ap - ap - ap - ap - ap - ap) upto 48 connections per ap.

satellites can be used from point to point network, say to link one location to another upto say 40 km away LOS or to be used with access points at the users end point back to a access point in a central location or with multipal access points.(sat - sat or ap - ap - sat )

The product changes the unit from standard 802.11b and will not talk to 802.11b.

Since 1993 KarlNet Incorporated has been the international leader in the engineering and design of hardware and software for wireless data networks.

Specializing in providing firmware to radio manufacturers for their own bridges, routers, and access points, KarlNet provides complete hardware and software solutions to OEM's, distributors, and resellers worldwide.

KarlNet's proprietary TurboCell protocol is also in use on various hardware platforms around the world for increased security and performance in point-to-point and point-to-multipoint solutions.
The above was taken direct rom their web site www.karlnet.com
