If it's Beldon cable you'll be looking at about $3-5 a metre I think.
I was quoted on drums of about 300 metres which seemed like overkill
for my single story house.

I don't know how to attach the connectors to them either. I have read
that the connectors can be quite lossy. I wonder if my lack of skill
would make them even worse?

I'd be happy to just buy cable a cable assembly for the time being 
and perhaps make my own at a later stage. 'Making your own' does
save money when it comes to ethernet cable so I guess it might work with
antenna cable.

Let us know if you do get some though.
